Ok, I know – fall in LA doesn’t exactly feel like fall. It’s pretty much year-round beach weather here, the leaves basically turn from green to brown (instead of red and orange), and well, it’s pretty much one gigantic urban city.

So, what do you do when you’re craving a bit of fall in LA?

Luckily for us, there’s tons of Los Angeles pumpkin patches where you can experience a bit of fall and *pretend* it’s actually sweater weather around here.

I grew up in LA but my family never really went to pumpkin patches, so I honestly never really knew the appeal of them until recently. But as I’ve started to go around to the pumpkin patches near Los Angeles as an adult, it’s become a fun fall tradition for me and now think it’s such an awesome way to experience the magic of the season.

There’s a pumpkin patch for everyone on this list, whether you’re looking to get some fall vibes without leaving the city, or if you want to visit a full-on charming country farm.

Either way, you can choose your perfect pick of the patch, take some cute fall photos, partake in some fun activities, and create some fun traditions.

Keep on reading for 10 of the best pumpkin patches in Los Angeles to visit this fall…

Best Los Angeles Pumpkin Patches to Visit This Fall

Mr. Bones Pumpkin Patch

If you’re looking for one of the best Los Angeles pumpkin patches that’s in the middle of the city, you can’t do much better than Mr. Bones. It’s one of the most popular spots, and the female owned patch has been a local favorite since it opened in 1987.

It’s where you can experience a bit of fall right in the middle of Culver City, and was originally opened so that people could experience a bit of farm life in an urban setting. Mr. Bones has a focus on sustainability, and the owners’ intention is that people can learn more about nature and the environment while enjoying Halloween and fall festivities.

Mr. Bones is one of the most photogenic pumpkin patches in Los Angeles, with some really cool backdrops, including some adorable pumpkin houses. You’ll also find tons and tons of colorful pumpkins in the pumpkin village, including some really unique specialty varieties, which you can purchase for anywhere between $2-600.

In addition, there’s a super slide, tipi village, giant rocking horses, a bounce house, straw maze, petting zoo, pumpkin decorating, and other fun activities. There are also food trucks on site if you want to grab a bite to eat.

It’s one of those quintessential LA spots – you might even spot a celebrity or two while you’re here!

Admission can get expensive here, depending on when you go. Prices do go up the closer you get to Halloween, so visit early on in the season! The best (and most inexpensive) time to go is the first 2 weeks of October on a weekday. It’s also the least crowded time!

Dates: October 5-29
Location: 10100 Jefferson Blvd., Culver City, CA 90232
Website: mrbonespumpkinpatch.com
Cost: TBA

Shawn’s Pumpkin Patch

Shawn’s is another one of the best pumpkin patches in LA that’s located on the Westside. When visiting, you’ll feel like you’ve been transported into the countryside, but you’ll still be right in the middle of LA!

It kinda is like a pumpkin-themed festival, with bounce houses, pony rides, a petting zoo, giant inflatable slides, a mini straw maze, train rides, kiddie rides, face painting, and more.

Of course, you’ll find tons of pumpkins in all shapes and sizes, along with gourds and “mountains” of straw bales. There’s plenty of cute photo ops as well.

They have a pumpkin carving station, so you can turn your pick of the patch into your own special creation before taking it home!

Dates: 10/5-11/2 (closed 10/7-9)
Location: 3443 S. Sepulveda Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90034 (New Location for 2024)

Tanaka Farms

Tanaka Farms has one of the most unique pumpkin patches in LA (technically Orange County), simply because of the fact that it’s right on a working farm and is a *real* pumpkin patch. Visiting is one of my favorite fall activities in Orange County!

You can pick your pumpkin right off the vine (well, technically they’ve already cut them off the vine but still). In addition, you can take part in other farm activities, such as U-pick produce (they were doing carrots and green onions when I went) and a barnyard exhibit.

You can also take a tractor ride around the 30 acre property (with a stop at a pumpkin canyon), shoot the pumpkin cannon, make your way through the corn maze, play games, and take part in some arts & crafts. Food is also available for purchase.

Starting this year, on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights, they will also stay open late and light up the patch

Do note that you will need to purchase a parking pass in order to make a weekend reservation. This is in order to reduce congestion in the nearby neighborhoods (please do not park in the neighborhoods).

Dates: September 14-October 31
Location: 5380 3/4 University Drive, Irvine, California  92612
Website: tanakafarms.com
Cost: $22 Monday-Thursday, Friday AM, $22 Friday after 12pm, Saturday, Sunday. Children under 2 and military are free. Admission includes entry, wagon rides, barnyard exhibit, and corn maze. Additional cost for other activities + pumpkins. $10 for parking pass (required on the weekends)

Hana Field by Tanaka Farms

Hana Field is the sister farm to Tanaka Farms, and also hosts a pumpkin patch every year.

However, there are some key differences between the two farms. First, Hana Farms is smaller, (although it still spans 8 acres). It usually has fewer crowds, which gives it a much more relaxed vibe.

Another difference is that there’s also a sunflower field at Hana Field, which means that you can also pick your own sunflowers in addition to your pumpkins!

Hana Field also has a U-Pick pumpkins, a corn maze, pumpkin cannon, barnyard exhibit, arts & crafts, and other activities. There’s also a marigold field and a cow train.

You can bring your own lunch and picnic, or purchase food from the food truck here.

Dates: October 5-October 27
Location: 427 Anton Boulevard, Costa Mesa, CA  92626
Website: tanakafarms.com
Cost: $10 general admission (free for military and children under 2). Pumpkins, sunflowers, and activity tickets are an additional cost.

Underwood Family Farms

This family-owned farm is located right outside of LA in Moorpark (in Ventura County), but it has been drawing folks from the Los Angeles area for over 40 years.

They have an annual pumpkin patch and Fall Harvest Festival every fall. Each weekend of the festival has a different theme, with live music and plenty of family fun!

The highlight here of course, is the pumpkins. The patch sprawls across 50 acres, with an enormous array of different pumpkins – from classic orange ones, specialty pumpkins in a rainbow of colors, some with warts, and more.

There’s also tons of super adorable photo ops, including one of the cutest pumpkin houses you’ll find in the area.

Your admission ticket includes entry into the farm and pumpkin patch with all its photo ops, as well as wagon rides, a corn stalk labyrinth, giant tractor display, hay climbing pyramids, animal center, wooden train, and much more. They even have animal shows and pig races on the weekends!

Located right behind the train station in the Irvine Regional Park, there are plenty of fun things to do here against the cutest fall backdrop. In addition to pumpkins, there are games, activities, train rides, lots of photo ops, and much more.

Admission to the patch is free (although you’ll have to pay for the park entrance fee), and also includes free entry into the hay maze and haunted house.

In addition, you can buy activity tickets to take part in all kinds of fun things, from train rides, hay rides, a bounce house, gold panning, face painting, pumpkin decorating, carnival games, and more.

It’s perfect for people of all ages (even this 30-something adult enjoyed it!), but is especially fun for kids because there’s just so much to do!

They also have a Great Pumpkin Weigh Off on September 21, during which farmers will compete to see who has the largest pumpkin and you can see the giant pumpkins on display.

Do note that it gets pretty busy on the weekends, so come early!

(Also, while the park is called Irvine Regional Park, it is actually located in Orange.)

Carlsbad Strawberry Company Pumpkin Patch

Carlsbad is located about 90 minutes from LA, and it makes for the perfect fall day trip. There’s tons of fun things to do, from beaches, outdoor activities, Legoland, and a quaint downtown area, along with one of the best pumpkin patches in Southern California.

The Carlsbad Strawberry Company is known for its U-Pick strawberry fields, but in the fall, it transforms into a fall wonderland.
