CARLSBAD FLOWER FIELDS

he Carlsbad Flower Fields are truly a sight to behold and a Southern California springtime tradition.  Here is everything you need to know about visiting these magical fields!

About the Flower Fields

The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch date back to the 1920s, and is a working farm today. The fields stretch 55 acres, with 70 million blooming in every color imaginable.

When to Visit

The Carlsbad Flower Fields are open every year from the first of March until Mother's Day. I suggest visiting in the end of March and beginning of April, when the flowers are at peak bloom.

Location

The Flower Fields are located in Carlsbad, California, 35 miles north of San Diego. It is also ideal for a day trip from Los Angeles and Orange County.

Admission + Tickets

Admission is $22 for adults (10+), $12 for children 3-10, and $20 for seniors (65+). Tickets must be booked online in advance (linked here) - keep in mind that weekends sell out quickly!

What kind of flowers?

What you see blooming at the Carlsbad Flower Fields are ranunculus flowers. The mild climate of Carlsbad creates the perfect growing conditions for them!

Photo Tips

DO NOT walk into the fields or step on flowers. There are designated photo spots - be creative! Have your photographer stand behind the flowers and shoot from a low angle for the effect of being in the fields.

Other Things to Do

While the flowers are the main draw, there are activities at the fields, including a sweet pea maze, U-Pick blueberries, and tractor rides. There are also special events.
