NOSARA, COSTA RICA

With miles of unspoiled coastline, lush jungle, and a laid-back pura vida lifestyle, Nosara is one of Costa Rica's best gems. Known as one of the best surf towns in the world, Nosara is an up-and-coming destination that also manages to feel like a hidden pardise.

Nosara is located  in a remote part of the Nicoya Peninsula. The nearest international airport is in Liberia, 115 km away. From here, take a Sansa Airlines flight, hire a shuttle, or rent a 4x4 vehicle - there are only dirt roads leading into town.

Hit the Beach

Nosara boasts miles of unspoiled coastline, thanks in part to local regulations that limit development. Its beaches are also protected as part of the Ostional Wildlife Refuge. Playa Guiones is the main beach in town, or head to Playa Pelada for a more secluded feel.

Catch some waves

The consistent waves here have put Nosara on the map as a world-class surf town. Obviously, one of the best things to do in Nosara is to catch some waves -you'll find plenty of board rentals and surf schools around town.

Take an ATV Adventure

Remote dirt roads surround the Nosara area, and ATVs are the preferred mode of transportation. There are plenty of ATV rentals and tours offered around town. You can explore everything from a hidden waterfall to a traditional Costa Rican farm.

Eat traditional Costa Rican food

Traditional casado plates feature a protein, rice, beans, and vegetables and make a hearty and delicious meal. Head over to Rosi's Soda Tica for some of the best in town.

Practice Yoga

Nosara's lush jungle and tranquil setting creates the perfect setting to practice yoga, putting it on the map as a wellness. Many hotels in town offer classes, and there are a number of studios in town as well.

Watch the sunset

Nosara’s pristine beaches and coastline sets itself up for some stunning sunset viewing opportunities. Catching the sunset here is one of the most magical things to do in Nosara. You can enjoy the sunset from one of the beaches in town, or while eating an al fresco meal at La Luna.
