For starters - Alaska is HUGE! Also, many of the destinations visited on Alaska cruises are difficult to access via land, making a cruise a perfect choice.
The Alaksa cruise season runs from May to October. Go in July or August for the best weather, September-October for the best rates (and fewest crowds).
The most popular itinerary for Alaska cruises is the Inside Passage, which visits Ketchikan, Juneau and Skagway. Others visit Anchorage and have options for land trips to Denali and Fairbanks.
For the best experience, book a balcony stateroom! One of the highlights of my Alaskan cruise was watching the icebergs floating by while enjoying breakfast on my private balcony.
Do note that even in the summer, the weather in Alaska tends to be cooler and sometimes rainy. Bring plenty of layers on your Alaska cruise, and a waterproof/windproof layer as well!
There are plenty of exciting excursions in each port stop of Alaska cruises. Space is limited so book early, especially those bucket list-worthy ones!
There are plenty of fun activies on board. Be sure not to miss the on-board lectures, as they will teach you lots about the places you visit and enhance your experiences on shore!
