JOSHUA TREE

With a magical desert landscapes and fascinating rock formations, Joshua Tree is one of the most unique National Parks. Spending one day in Joshua Tree will give you a taste of what it has to offer.

1. Cholla Cactus Garden

Start your day at the Cholla Cactus Garden, where you'll find a landscape dotted with these unusual cacti species. A flat 0.25 mile trail takes you through the garden.

2. Arch Rock

This 0.5 mile hike takes you to a unique natural arch-shaped rock formation that almost looks like it’s defying gravity. Getting up close to it is one of the coolest things to do in Joshua Tree!

3. Skull Rock

When viewed at the right angle, this unique rock formation looks like a skull, a result of erosion over the years. 

4. Jumbo Rocks

Instead of parking at the Skull Rock lot, park at Jumbo Rocks so you can take a stroll through part of the 1.7 trail to admire all of the interesting rock formations.

5. Hidden Valley

One of the park's signature trails, strolling through Hidden Valley is one of the best things to do in Joshua Tree. You'll hike through scenic valley, hidden  between boulders

6. Cap Rock

Cap Rock is a short 0.4-mile loop trail that takes you around to some interesting boulders. It is flat, easy, and well-marked trail, making it an ideal choice for hikers of all ages and abilities. – 

7. Keys View

End your Joshua Tree day trip at Keys View, the park's highest viewpoint standing at 5185 feet. Watching the sunset here is one of the best things to do in Joshua Tree.
